RESTORATIONS UNLIMITED

The word “restore” means to bring something back into an original state. Sadly, mankind fell from God’s original plan and each one of us are affected by that fall. We all are tarnished, broken and worse.

“Bring it back to its former glory” is the common phrase we hear when something should be restored. We restore something because it has special meaning to us. The old car we had as a teenager or piece of furniture or that old house that was so beautiful. Those things can be special and to us, they deserve to be restored.

The need for our restoration isn’t because of age, or wear and tear, or the weathering of a car or a piece of furniture. This was caused because of a fall into corruption –Romans 5:12. Satan, whom the bible calls the “father of lies” –John 8:44 and ” the one deceiving the whole world” –Revelation 12:9, came to steal, kill and destroy –John 10:10 God’s creation. One look at the news or social media and we can see what satan’s influence has done to the creation and all its inhabitants. As all things with God, His plan for us is on an amazingly grand scale. His intent for us and all of His creation is glory and perfection because that is His nature. It’s easy to see that mankind and the whole of creation has fallen short of that plan.

Because of this, God looked at us, His loved creation –John 3:16 and wanted it restored to His original plan but, because this creation has become so corrupted, God has gone one step farther not only to restore it but to make ALL things new. First, God makes His people new –2 Corinthians 5:17 and then the new creation will follow –Revelation 21:1-5

This is the very reason that Jesus came: to destroy what Satan had done –1 John 3:8 and to begin our restoration –1 John 4:14 and to make us brand new –2 Corinthians 5:17.  Because of satan, our spirits died –Ephesians 2:1.  So to start our restoration Jesus gives us a new spirit –John 3:3 and that begins our transformation –2 Corinthians 3:18. This is good news for us all, because no matter our station in life, how broken or sinful or hurt we are, the answer and hope is the same for us all, being born again by the power of Christ.  Even if we feel that we don’t fall into the category of brokenness, we have “worldly success” and are a “good person,” at least in our own eyes.  The reality is ALL of us have fallen terribly short of God’s idea for us –Romans 3:23 and none of us are capable, on our own, to become what He had intended –Ephesians 2:1-10.

Jesus came to bring new Life and to restore us. Let Him restore you to the original plan He had for you.
