THE WORLD IS SO DARK, IS THERE EVEN A SPARK OF HOPE?

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2 |
As we look at the world in which we live, many are upset, distressed or disgusted. The older generations shake their heads and wonder how did we get here. The younger generations don’t see a problem because they are born into the current darkness and it’s familiar to them.
For thousands of years this has been the case, people walking in darkness and knowing deep inside something was wrong. Things were not supposed to be this way. Men have been trying to fix this, to somehow overcome the darkness in the world and in themselves, but they have always failed. The world and all that is in it was handed over to satan in the fall of mankind – Luke 4:6. He lorded over the world and has kept the people in darkness, powerless to change.
All people were held captive until the time in history when all this changed, a great light came and broke through the darkness. – John 1:5
The great Light that is Jesus Christ – Colossians 1:15-20 came, His very Life is Light to us – John 1:4. Just like any light, you can begin to see clearly, to have clarification. Light pushes out the darkness so we can see the true condition of things, we can see that something is false — a counterfeit in good lighting.
When Jesus came His light not only exposed the darkness but people could see that they now had a choice, they could choose to leave the darkness and move into Gods kingdom of light – Acts 26:18.
But, sometimes we want to stay in the dark, we enjoy the dark and the things we are doing in the dark – John 3:19. This is satan’s deceptive darkness, it seems fun to us; the Bible even says that sin is pleasurable for a time. But before we know it, that time is over and we realize what a horrible mistake we made. Or worse yet, we die in that deception and are eternally cut off from God – 2 Thessalonians 1:9. Nothing is worth that – Matthew 16:26.
Other times we may be asleep. Sleeping in this darkness without a clue of what state we’re in, Christ wants to shine on us but first we must be awakened – Ephesians 5:14, Romans 13:11.
Even today, right at this very moment, Jesus offers His Life that is a light to us. This is His gift to us. Because of God’s great love for us and His desire that none of us be lost – 1 Timothy 2:3 -5, He sent Christ into the world as a Light for us so we can see, choose, and turn to Him.
In whatever degree of darkness you’re experiencing, Christ is your Light and your Life. Turn to Him today.
