god healed my feet
I guess I was a young boy, maybe nine or ten when my
parents realized that there was something wrong with the way I walked. Something
caused me to walk on the sides of my feet.
I had, of course, doctor visits and tests. I’m not exactly sure what my condition was
called but I especially remember the corrective shoes I had to wear. The shoes
were black, and heavy and would always slam against my legs when I ran. I remember
the shoes were specially made and every so often I would need to get refitted.
My ankle bones protruded so badly that if I tried to wear loafers or any other
types of shoes, the shoes would dig in the ankle bones and cut them. Even my sneakers
had to be high tops so as not to cut my ankles.
After a few years, my mother, who was a Christian and
very spiritual, decided to take me to a meeting in Pittsburgh, PA. The meetings
were very popular, led by Kathryn Kuhlman. God healed many people in those
meetings. My mother loaded my two sisters and me onto a Greyhound bus that took
us from Virginia to Pittsburgh.
These meetings were always crowded and there was a long
line to get in. My mother and sisters and I sat in the back.
The worship music started and we sang a few songs. We started to sing “How Great Thou Art” and
that’s when something began to happen. My feet started to burn, not in a painful way but they became very, very warm. I didn’t know what was happening and started to cry, my mom asked me what was wrong, and I told her my feet were
burning. One of the ushers noticed what was happening and came over to speak to us; we told him about my feet. He led us up to the front — he knew from experience that God was touching me.
When my mother and I got to the front of the church, many
people were lined up. God was touching and healing their bodies, too. When it
was my turn, my mother and I climbed the steps on to the stage. Ms. Kuhlman asked me what had happened, I told her and Ms. Kuhlman asked one of the doctors to come up and examine me. There were always doctors present in the meetings, some were Christians, and some were scoffers. I’m not sure what this doctor believed but he examined my feet and couldn’t find anything wrong. God had healed my feet, my ankle bones no longer protruded, they were changed, and
I didn’t walk on the sides of my feet anymore.
When we got back home, we threw out the corrective shoes
and I’ve been wearing regular shoes ever since with no pain!
